About
"9 Mujeres"
In celebration of our 30th Anniversary, nine Latina women artists were
invited to come to Mission Grafica and be part of creating an original
serigraph print. This is the first time that an all women1s portfolio
has been created at MCCLA/Mission Grafica.
All nine women artists come from different Latin American backgrounds
and work in a variety of other disciplines, and were screen-printing
for the first time. The project has taken approximately a year and a
half to complete.
The theme was kept open to explore the Latin American experience from
a woman1s perspective. As a result a very interesting and beautiful
portfolio has been created. The experience of having these creative
individuals at Mission Grafica has been challenging and at the same
time, they1re creative approach and application to this medium has been
refreshing. It has been a pleasure to be able to introduce the medium
of screen printing to such a wonderful group of artists. The energy
and enthusiasm that they brought to Mission Grafica will leave a la
sting impression.
I would like to thank the following individuals for the support that
was given to Mission Grafica during this project: Adrian Arias, Jenny
Rodriguez, Patricia Rodriguez and Cecilia Baeza.

Art with a Mission
The Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts (MCCLA) was established in
1977 by artists and community activists with a shared vision to promote,
preserve and develop the Latino cultural arts that reflect the living
tradition and experiences of the Chicano, Central and South American,
and Caribbean people.
The MCCLA makes the arts accessible as an essential element to community
development and well-being.
As a community non-profit arts organization, MCCLA prides itself in enriching,
in a most unique way, the cultural and artistic life of the Mission, San
Francisco, and Bay Area residents as well.
The Board of Directors, Management and Staff, share a commitment to providing
quality and relevant art programs and services, and to working with community
individuals and groups in the pursuit of this vision.
